January Tour: Päivälehti Museum

In January, the AWC had a fascinating tour at the Päivälehti
Museum. This interactive museum enables visitors to explore
modern media and freedom of speech, as well as the history
of newspaper printing in Finland. A digital world map shows
which countries have more-or-less-free speech, tracks in realtime
where the major news services (Reuters, BBC, Al
Jazeera, Itar Tass, Xinhua) are reporting stories, and even
offers a view on global use of Twitter.  On the lower level, the museum
has a collection of newspaper printing machines, dating back to a
150-year old Gutenberg press. We encourage all members who didn’t attend the tour to stop
by the museum (entrance is free) and check it out for yourselves.IMG_4595
