Backstage at the Opera

In April 2016 we took a backstage tour of the Opera House. The building was completed in 1993 and the main auditorium seats more than 1300 persons. In addition to the performance artists — members of the orchestra, chorus, dancers, etc. — the opera employs many skilled technical artists creating the costumes, props, sets. Our guide led us through many workshops and halls where all these pieces of the puzzle are produced. We saw the stage being prepared for that evening’s performance and got to try on costumes in the dressmakers´ studios. It was fascinating to get a glimpse of how much work goes on behind the scenes.
